Fundamentals of Management and Marketing.   This is an accelerated course on Marketing Principles and theory. It offers an analytical approach to study product pricing strategies, distribution, communication and promotion, consumer behavior and development of corporate marketing strategy.

Advanced Christian Education – Principles & Methods. This course is designed to equip the student to understand advance concepts in Christian Education. It is directed towards enabling the student to understand issues of developmental theory in light of a Biblical process of spiritual formation and maturity. It is designed to help students prepare for ministry by learning to “equip the saints” and implement ministry that is fruitful.

Christian Nurture,   This course provides students the opportunity to explore theories of Christian nurture, identify the theological foundations of those theories, and develop the necessary competencies to nurture Christians in a postmodern age.

Educational Process.  This course will introduce students to the theory and practice of education particularly as it is practiced within a Christian religious education framework. This study will proceed in a twofold process: First, the introduction of issues within education pertaining to major theories and thinkers in the educational context. Second, the exploration of issues related to curriculum and instruction through the lens of these theories and thinkers as related to the process of learning.

Dynamic Methods of Teaching.  This course is designed to teach the Christian educator the different teaching methods that are needed to meet the needs of differing learning styles. This course will focus on the four learning styles and the development of programs that will meet the needs of the various learners.

UCED519 Educational Leadership.   This course examines both the theory and practice of leadership principles. It applies those principles to the field of Christian education. It allow the student to examine and develop his/her own leadership style in light of their own field of endeavor. 3

Cognitive Theory for Educators.
This course will highlight the theory and practice of cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and solution-focused models.  Assessment, intervention and self-management strategies through this approach will be emphasized.  Application of cognitive and behavioral techniques to human learning problems will be discussed from a Christian perspective, with a focus on the belief system of individuals.

This course focuses on application of psychological principles in the educational experiences. The course provides the tools needed to make the teaching-learning process a more effective and rewarding part of Christian ministry. Topics covered include student and environmental factors which affect the learning process, educational design principles, and the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian educational theory.

Formational Teaching.   This course is designed to help students develop their abilities as Christian teachers. It will also help them develop and evaluate intentional learning experiences used in Christian education to promote the spiritual development of the learner, including the theory and construction of curriculum.

Spirituality in Christian Education.   This course is a continuation of UPTH 305, Spiritual Formation. It will also include studies in spiritual health and the practice of spiritual disciplines. The student will explore the nature of spiritual formation within the various major traditions of spirituality. Historical and contemporary models for soul care are examined in light of these traditions.

Attention will be given to biblical and theological foundations of family education, philosophies, and models of family educational ministries. The student will study the dynamics of education within the family context.

Attention will be given to biblical and theological foundations of youth education, philosophies, and models of youth educational ministries, issues in adolescent development, considerations of contemporary youth cultures, and issues of diversity in ministry to youth and global issues in youth ministry education.

Education for Children’s Ministry.  This course in educating children examines the nature and spirituality of children in light of biblical, theological, and developmental perspectives. The course will enable the student to analyze and develop children’s education programs to meet the needs of today’s children.

Adult Education Ministry.  This course examines the principles and methods of adult education in the church with particular attention given to non-formal education. It focuses on defining, developing, and evaluating the adult educational experiences in non-formal settings.

In light of the developmental process the student will learn to coordinate the educational process, thereby giving the learner age appropriate teaching and training.

Urban Ministries.  This course is a study to discuss the alternatives and challenges of urban ministry on both the foreign and domestic fields. The student will survey the more prevalent problems associated with this type of ministry and explore solutions and strategies to address these needs.

Conflict Management.  This course will examine conflict with an emphasis on determining its source and managing its outcome from a Biblical perspective. It is designed to equip the student to 1) understand the dynamics of a conflict, and 2) integrate the principles taught in this class to manage and resolve conflicts that occur in life, relationships, and ministry.

Advanced Leadership Principles.    This course will build upon the student’s understanding of the theoretical aspects of leadership and of administrative roles within the church. Secular and Christian ideas of leadership are examined further and applied to the local church environment or to Christian business.

Marketing the Ministry.   An extensive survey in to the various means available to properly and successfully develop awareness in a community or a church’s ministry programs and services. This course covers topics such as the well-designed church, bulletin to mass media opportunities as promotional avenues.

Introduction to Chaplaincy.   This course is designed to introduce the student to the work of Christian Chaplaincy and to give the student a practical and academic foundation for the role of a chaplain.

Leadership as a Lifestyle.  This course explores how beliefs or attitudes contribute to the leader's approach to life, decision-making, and their leadership style. The student is introduced to various leadership models and how effective leaders are guided by a core belief system. Character, competence, and commitment are some areas that will be covered.

Master’s Practicum.   This is a project in an appropriate field related to the student’s major. The site for the Practicum will be a joint effort between the University Counseling Dept. and the student.  The University will provide a list of possible locations for the Practicum. The University will first evaluate these sites to make sure the staff at the location meets the qualifications to supervise the student. This is generally 6 credit hours, unless specified otherwise.

Master’s Thesis.   A Master's Thesis following the specified requirements for the major area of study is to be completed by each student. Eschatology.   This course is designed to introduce the student to the various components of end time theology. The different theories of the tribulation and the millennium are studied. The contributions of prophetic and apocalyptic literature are examined in both the Old and New Testaments.

Pauline Theology.   A study of the life and teachings of the Apostle Paul throughout the New Testament. Students will examine his conversion experience and subsequent ministry with an emphasis on his mission and message to the Gentile world. Key Biblical themes are addressed in this course.

Pneumatology.   This course examines the person and work of the Holy Spirit:  A scriptural and practical presentation of the nature, personality, gifts, and fruit of the Holy Spirit. Students will learn how to practically assess, value, and recognize the function of the gifts of the Spirit. This class will involve academic, as well as practical, training.

Christology.   This course is a comprehensive study of what the Scriptures say about Jesus Christ. The student is introduced to Old Testament typology and to the prophecies concerning Christ’s present and future work. Controversial historical and contemporary views of Jesus are examined in relation to the Bible portrayal.
